Why it is intelligent to use a woodstove thermometer.
Instructions for Use
Place on your woodstove as recommended by your dealer or manufacturer, usually a position where the surface is hottest. Attaches magnetically.
Note: If your painted woodstove is new, to avoid marking paint, do not use thermometer until the stove paint has cured completely. One hot fire in a new stove will typically cure paint.
Guidelines for Temperature Readings
Consult your stove manufacturer's manual for precise temperature recommendations. See below for approximate guidelines:
Less than 110°C / 230°F: Temperature too low. Incomplete combustion, causing smoke, soot and hazardous creosote. Open draft and/or add dry fuel.
110°C to 250°C / 230°F to 475°F: Safe operating temperature. Complete combustion and best efficiency.
Greater than 250°C / 475°F: Wasting energy, possibly overheating. While high temperatures are often reached on initial firing, should not be maintained for normal operation.
Not every woodstove thermometer is manufactured by the Condar Company. Acquire a genuine Condar thermometer and compare. The bimetallic coil is bigger and better. It is calibrated accurately. And made in Columbus, North Carolina USA with high standards of quality.
SHIPS FROM OTTAWA
"The thermometer as well as the heat and the light from the fire are all helpful indicators of fire safety level of the wood-stove in operation. Greater information brings about greater fire safety and fire prevention".
